- Opening prayer & Devotion --Mary Jo Price Williams. Our mission is to serve the community and St. John’s. The meetings will be themed. The theme for this meeting is “Grateful Hearts.” Meetings will be on the first Wednesday of each month.
- Pantry Shower – Several people have signed up to donate. Post card reminders have gone out to all who signed up. The Hartke family will arrive in Orchard Park tomorrow evening. We can give them what we have already collected for their pantry and then give them the balance after 11/15..
- Bookmarks – Will be given to all women attending church this weekend. The bookmarks contain information about our ministry as well as the name of our Blog. The Blog contains daily Bible verses as well as a link to St. John’s website.
- Budget – In the past the budget has been $100. We will request $400. We plan to supplement our budget with fundraisers to benefit the community and local missions.
- Fundraisers – Online Shopper – Our ministry would get a kickback from shoppers entering a merchant’s website through our Blog. Another idea is an Orchard Park Monopoly Game. We would sell spaces to businesses to pay for the cost of having the games manufactured and then sell the games to raise funds. Mary Jo is getting a sample game to evaluate. Linda V. suggested “Undie Sunday”. We would collect socks and underwear for the kids in the Southern Tier. This would take place during the year between Christmas and VBS. Barbara R. suggested a Baby Ministry. New or gently used baby clothing and accessories for the community would be provided. Sandy C. mentioned burial outfits for babies. Mary Jo suggested adopting a family for Christmas and purchasing gifts for them from our fund. The formation of a young mothers’ group was suggested. We will wait for the new year and then put out a call to see who is interested. If there are young mothers’ who are interested, we could have an organizational meeting and help them get their group started.
Christmas Hams for the City Mission – It was decided that our ministry will sell hams to donate to the City Mission for Christmas. We will start a piggy bank promotion with the slogan “Don’t be a turkey, buy a ham.” We will look for a piggy bank to use as our mascot. Shelly S. will call the City Mission to find out the date that the Mission will need to have the hams. We will also ask if people would like to bake cookies to donate to the Mission for Christmas. We will bring the pig to the 12/2 potluck dinner to possibly sell hams. We will also bring cookies for the potluck to go along with our December theme which is an “Old Fashioned Christmas.”
December meeting will be combined with the potluck dinner. - Next Meeting – January 6, 2010
Prayer.
