Just for Laughs

KIDS IN CHURCH
3-year-old Reese :

'Our Father, Who does art in heaven,
Harold is His name.

Amen.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little boy was overheard praying:
'Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm having a real good time like I am.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the christening of his baby brother in church,
Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.
His father asked him three times what was wrong.

Finally, the boy replied,
'That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home,
and I wanted to stay with you guys.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One particular four-year-old prayed,
'And forgive us our trash baskets
as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they
were on the way to church service,
'And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?'
One bright little girl replied,
'Because people are sleeping.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson.
'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
' Ryan , you be Jesus !'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A father was at the beach with his children
when the four-year-old son ran up to him,

grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore

where a seagull lay dead in the sand.

'Daddy, what happened to him?' the son asked.
'He died and went to Heaven,' the Dad replied.
The boy thought a moment and then said,
'Did God throw him back down?'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A wife invited some people to dinner.
At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said,
'Would you like to say the blessing?'
'I wouldn't know what to say,' the girl replied.
'Just say what you hear Mommy say,' the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said,
'Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?'
Finally the Cookie Swap recipes!
We tried a new thing this year.  We did a cookie swap but we also brought an extra dozen cookies for the City Mission.  They people over there were so thankful for the homemade cookies.  I finally finished making the recipe books.  Here are the pages.  If you click on each individual page it will show you the page in a larger format and you can even print it if you want!
Yummy, this made me hungry!  Enjoy the recipes.  Be watching for this year's exchange.
Love this! From the Brave Girls Club.
Dear Overwhelmed Girl,
Do you have the completely irrational belief that so many of us have that
you can be everything to everyone....especially to those that you love? Do
you believe it’s your job to keep them all happy, to help them with everything
that they are struggling with and to then go out and save the world in your
free time?
Do you over commit and then beat yourself up when you under-deliver?
Are there a million things on your list that were really really important that
you didn’t even get to because you got caught up in doing things that weren’t
nearly AS important?
Ok now.....take a deep breath. Now...take another one. One more.
Remember that you are wonderful. You are loved.....and, phenomenal friend...
amazing woman.........you are a human being. You DO have limitations and it is
totally ok for you to say no sometimes....lots of times. In fact, it is essential.
When you don’t stop to rest....to think....to recharge....to remember....
to restore.....you end up grouchy, tired, uncreative, angry and numb to lots of
life. You are a sparkling, beautiful girl and we need that sparkle.....so STOP
today and make a list....prioritize it...be realistic. Say no to at least 3
things today..........practice.
Say yes to yourself....to joy...to rest....to being 100% present to the things
that matter most to you..instead of a tired and diluted version who has too much
to do to ever do her best at ANYTHING. Don’t lose yourself while you are trying to
be everything to everyone....
If at all possible....only have enough on your plate that you can do your best at
everything you have to do.......your life will take on new meaning and happiness.
Just practice...this is a hard one, but so worth it. Hang in there......you are loved!
Happy Mother's Day!
MOTHERS
Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up....
Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best..'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother........
The Images of Mother
4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn’t know everything!
14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn’t have a clue.
.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom...
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair..
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!
author unknown.
I hope your day is blessed with much love and some time to spend on YOU!
You are special and deserve to be praised today!
First AM Bible Study Will Begin on March 25th not on the 11th!
The materials are not here in time to begin on the 11th so we will stay on the same schedule and meet on the 25. Sorry about the change.
Join us on March 25th for our first bi-weekly Women's AM. Bible Study.  We are starting out with a DVD series called Discovering your Full Worth in Christ.  Here is a brief description for you.
Esteemed Journey: Discovering Your Full Worth in Christ
Women are unique creations designed extraordinarily by God. Yet many of them underestimate themselves, devalue the impact of their purpose, belittle the merit of their passion and fail to grasp their full potential. It is only in the fullness of their worth in Jesus Christ that women can experience all that he has for them as his beloved daughters. Discovering that full worth in Christ is what The Esteemed Journey is all about.
This participant guidebook is a companion to The Esteemed Journey Leader Guide kit, also available from Group. As participants move through the six sessions contained within this personal guidebook and the Leader Guide kit, they will discover for themselves their full worth in Christ as God's Word illuminates...
  • where their momentum comes from and what keeps them stuck
  • the rich lessons they can learn from past mistakes
  • where their internal compass is pointing
  • the untapped potential Christ wants to release in them
  • how to respond to their desire for growth, challenge, and inspiration
  • Each guidebook will lead your participants through engaging discussions and reflective journaling & coaching
    The cost of the book is $10 each--if you can afford to pay please do if not please do not worry.
    Hope to see you there!  Mary Jo
    Love this so I thought I would share.
    We need to have a mindset of letting God use us to make somebody else's life better. When we do that, then there's a joy released in us that we're not ever going to get anywhere else.
    So much fun at the Cards For Heroes Event!
    We were able to make 300 cards for our congregation to write personal notes to our Heroes who are fighting and serving us!  We will be making all occasion cards in April to send to the soldiers blank so they can use them to send back home.  Watch for a date!
    Thanks so much to everyone who participated!  It really went well--you guys are GOOD!  And some of you said you are not crafty or can't make anything--I hate to say "I told you so"  but, well you know!
    See ya in April for our next cards for soldiers event!
    HANDBOOK for 2010
    Some great ideas here, been trying to do many of them myself!
           Health:
           1.  Drink plenty of water.
           2.  Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner
               like a beggar.
           3.  Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less
               food that is manufactured in plants.
           4.  Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
           5.  Make time to pray.
           6.  Play more games.
           7.  Read more books than you did in 2009.
           8.  Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
           9.  Sleep for 7 hours.
           10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.
           Personality:
                journey is all about.
           18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of their
                mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
           19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
           20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
           21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
           22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
                 Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away
                 like algebra class, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
           23. Smile and laugh more.
           24. You don't have to win every argument.
                 Agree to disagree...
           30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
           31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.
                 Stay in touch.
           Life:
           32. Do the right thing!
           33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
           34. GOD heals everything.
           35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
           36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
           37. The best is yet to come.
           38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
           39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.
    January Mommy and Me class.
    We had so much fun at the first Mommy and Me class! Remember this will be a bi-monthly class so be sure to mark your calendars.
    The next one is March 20th 1-3 pm.
    Cost for the class is $10 and includes all supplies for one adult and one child project. Ask about pricing for additional children.  All children must be accompanied by an adult. Class can be altered for boys or girls-we just want you to have fun with your child. Please bring a snack to share.  At this point we are not putting an age on the class—the pictures for what we are making will be posted on the blog and our bulletin board. You make the call if it is something you and your child would be enjoy.  The last part of the class will be snack and fellowship.  Sign up in advance  662-7888
    Here are a few photos of the projects for January and a couple photos of those who gave me permission to post!
    Each Mommy/child team made a photo frame and bookmark for children  and a calendar for mom.
    Here are the samples of the calendar and photo frame
    Here are the samples of the book marks.  The saying on them are as follows
    If your a bookworm, we are made for each other.  apple
    Lemon help you keep your place.  lemon
    Berry yourself in books. Reading is sweet.  strawberry
    Orange you glad you are reading this book?  orange--not shown.
     As you can see from the photos the children were all so creative and came up with some wonderful ideas.
    There was even a guessing game.
    The kids had to guess how many candy hearts were in the container to win it.
    January's Devotion
    January Devotion
    This is the devotion for the January meeting.
    What's There To Live For?September 13thREAD: 2 Corinthians 5:6-17 For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised (2 Corinthians 5:14-15 RSV).
    Here again is the great motive in the life of the apostle--"the love of Christ controls us." Actually, controls is a word that means constrains us, drives us out, motivates us, and then guides us after we get there, that sets the limits to what we should and should not do. That motive, he says, comes from the sense that Christ loves us.
    I do not know anything greater and more powerful as a motivating factor than that. I get terrified sometimes at what God can do to me if I do not behave. That motivates me sometimes. It is a low motivation, but it is there. But the thing that will get to me, when nothing else will, is the continuing experience of the love of Christ for me, a refreshment of spirit that I gain from the awareness that He loves me, He is for me, He stands beside me, He delights in me. Knowing that will move me like nothing else. That is what Paul is experiencing here--the awareness that God loves him. There is nothing like it. It gives him a sense of security, a sense of self-worth, and a good self-image. If you suffer from a bad image of yourself, then start thinking about what God says about you, how He loves you, and how Christ loves you and has given Himself to you, and that will change everything.
    He also says he has learned that the death of Christ freed him from the need to live for himself I do not know anything more relevant to the current day than that statement. Everywhere I turn I hear people talking about what they have to do to "meet their needs." Whatever they do or wherever they go is determined by how well their needs are met. You need to understand this important truth: Jesus Christ died to set you free from that syndrome. You do not need your needs met; He has already met them. You must learn that He has met your needs, because they will never be met by any other source. No one else is able to meet them. If you have that expectation of other people, you will find yourself suffering rejection at others' hands because they know they cannot meet your needs.
    "One has died for all," and that means, "all have died" in order that they might understand that they live no longer for themselves. After Christ has met your needs, you discover that the secret to life as it ought to be lived is that you then turn and try to meet the needs of others. That is what Paul is saying here. "He died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves," no longer with their needs at the center of their life, trying to build everything around them, "but for him who for their sake died and was raised."
    Lord, reveal more and more of Your great love to me. Let Your love meet all of my needs, and set me free to live not for myself but for You.
    This daily devotion was inspired by one of Ray's sermons. Please read "What's There To Live For?" (or listen to the audio file Listen to Ray) for more on this portion of scripture.
